Teagan McHarg

Teagan McHarg’s personality and love for family shine from the pages of her new book, My Grandma is the Best. Written as a tribute to her grandma, whom she calls Nonie, the story is both entertaining and inspiring, playfully celebrating family values. Teagan says she wanted to spotlight her grandma. She endeavoured to publish, so there was a physical copy for Nonie to read and pages to turn. And not only are Teagan’s words on those pages, but her illustrations are, too.

A reader herself, Teagan’s favourite authors include Madeline Miller, Enid Blighton and Jane Austen. This author and illustrator enjoys listening to a bit of indie folk and pop music while writing. Usually a writer of historical fiction and adult fantasy, Teagan says her newly published work is “more outside of the box”. But are we sure glad she turned her talent to children’s books? Not only does she bring the fun and beauty of rhythm and rhyme, but each page has a hidden peacock feather for her readers to find.
