Amne is proud of being a working mum. As a pharmacist, helping others brings a great sense of fulfilment. Amne understands the guilt a mother feels when deciding to maintain a career. With his book, she hopes people will understand that being a working mum is not a reflection of their love for their children.

Mother, wife, pharmacist, author and much more, Amne embraces the many aspects of herself. She hopes that her first book, Off to Work Mummy Goes, will help other mothers to feel comfortable defining themselves as more than one thing. This doesn’t make them any less of a mum.

Off to Work Mummy Goes

Off to work, Mummy goes. And even though I miss her, I know she always comes back. Mummy has a job and takes care of me too. She buys me blocks and socks. I know Mummy loves me. She shows me that I can be anything I want to be.

Off to Work Mummy Goes reminds us that a mum can work and also look after her family. And choosing to do this doesn’t mean she loves her family any less. The story, written from a child’s perspective, illustrates what life looks like for a child whose mum also works for a living. The day-to-day routine with Mummy working is reflected in the structure and repetition of the story. Off to Work Mummy Goes sets an excellent example that each family is unique and runs differently, encouraging acceptance without judgement.
