Amne El Kurdi

Amne El Kurdi

Currently studying her masters in teaching, author and pharmacist Amne El Kurdi is passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing. She has seen the importance of helping children understand and express their emotions from an early age. Amne’s daughters inspired her writing. The Backpack of Feelings demonstrates how children can navigate quite challenging emotions during the most difficult periods of their lives.

This author’s writing is driven by the belief that stories can foster empathy, build resilience and create meaningful conversations between children and the adults who care for them. Amne hopes to remind children that feelings such as sadness, anger, confusion and fear are normal by creating a compassionate story that offers hope and reassurance. Amne aims to ensure children from a variety of backgrounds and cultures can see themselves represented in stories. This is reflected in her writing as she beautifully illustrates the experience of a Muslim family.

When she isn’t writing, Amne enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, walking and hiking. She finds being outside provides the opportunity to slow down, reflect and appreciate the simple things in life. Amne also loves reading and has a particular interest in psychology, resilience and childhood emotional development. She hopes her work encourages children to feel seen, understood and find the confidence to ask for support when they need it. The Backpack of Emotions is Amne’s second published work. If you love it, you’re sure to love Off to Work, Mummy Goes, too.

We all carry feelings. Some feel as light as a feather. Others seem way too heavy to carry on our own. It’s okay to feel sad, angry, confused or scared when life changes unexpectedly. We don’t need to carry the weight of our backpack alone. Don’t forget, we can ask for help.

Written with warmth, compassion and inspiring hope, The Backpack of Feelings helps children build resilience and serves as a gentle reminder to share the load with a trusted adult. It is a reassuring story for children navigating family breakdown, grief, and any of life’s great challenges. This book offers a simple yet powerful message: you are not alone with your feelings.

The Backpack of Feelings is Amne El Kurdi’s second published work. If you love the story, you’re sure to equally enjoy Off to Work, Mummy Goes.
